Full Description
[TQ 706 765] The base of a chafing dish was found in the alluvium by the jetty at Cliffe in August 1976. The ware is sandy and gritty and the inside of the bowl is covered in green glaze. These dishes are from Surrey kilns and are dated on the grounds of their fabric and glaze to the seventeenth century. This example is presumably of the same date.
