Summary
Bronze medieval tap handle in the form of a cockerel, found in 1984. Dated to c.1350-1450 and stamped on one side with a rampart lion in relief. Some bronze or latten aquamaniles, often in the form of lions or horsemen, had taps projecting from the animal's chest and these tap handles may have been used on these vessels or on cisterns.
