The following text is from the original listed building designation:
ASH TR 2858 CHEQUER LANE (north side) 10/67 No 2 (Chequer Lodge) 10.11.63 GV II
House. Early C18 altered mid C19. Red brick and plain tiled roof. Two storeys and attic on plinth with moulded wooden eaves cornice to hipped roof with 2 hipped dormers and stacks to left and to right. Regular fenestration of 3 sashes on first floor and 2 with cambered heads on ground floor. Central half-glazed door with moulded cornice to leaded hood on brackets. Left return: with channelled render, 1 glazing bar sash on each floor and 6 light shop window to right (house at sometime a bakery).
