7/170 Former Tram Shelter at junction with Elms Vale Road

Tram shelter. Early C20. Cast and wrought iron and glass. Rectangular plan with canted ends and open front. Glazed walls the plinth panels have anthemion motifs at their corners, the windows above have vertical glazing bars. The low-pitched hipped glazed roof has deep eaves on ornate pierced brackets pendants and vallances. The ridge has wrought iron cresting in form of horizontal bars terminating in finials. Inside the wooden bench has cast-iron trestles. This is reputedly the only remaining shelter of the Dover Corporation Tramways which ceased operating in 1936.
