Full Description
[TQ 7925 7390 - sited to Roper's Farm] In Febraury 1973 a hoard of bronze implements was disturbed by workmen at Roper's Farm, Hoo St. Werburgh. The hoard had been deposited at a depth of 2ft and consisted of 161 items, including; part of a crucible, buckle ends and old and damaged items, presumably intended for smelting, as well as axe heads and a large quantity of swords. The date range of the hoard is c.1000-500 BC. (1) Alternative site at TQ 8095 7376 given to hoard find reported in 1973, that could be the same as the Roper Farm find.(2)
