Summary

An Anglo-Saxon cemetery found during railway excavations in 1890. Finds included an iron spearhead, the bronze fittings of a belt, two coins of Nero and Maximian and the remains of the base of a Roman Skillet represented by a bronze disc with raised concentric circles. Bones were transported away from the site and it is thought far more finds probably went with them. Cemetery dated to the early 6th century. The present whereabouts of the finds is uncertain. The site lies on the upper part of a low spur, sloping gently north-west. OD 15-20m.
