School. Early C19 for the French family. Rendered with slate roof. Three storeys, the end window bays projecting slightly, with paired modillion eaves cornice to hipped roof with doubled stacks to rear left and rear right. Five glazing bar sashes with louvred shutters on first and second floors and 4 French windows on ground floor with central panelled door and rectangular fanlight under large triple keyed pediment on consoles. Field Marshal Sir John French, Earl of Ypres (1852-1925) was born here, and is buried in the churchyard of St. Mary the Virgin, Ripple.
