In Sept. 1911 a workman loading flint for road mending found a small, white, almost perfectly spherical flint which had been used as a money-box and contained 11 uninscribed Iron Age gold coins. The flint was naturally hollow and had a natural orifice which may have been enlarged to fit the coins. The find spot was about 1 mile SW from Higham Railway Station, and a mile east from Shorne, near Higham Upshire and Gads Hill. Illustration photograph See AO/58/57/8.
