Passenger shelter. Circa 1847 for the South Eastern Railway and believed to be one of 3 or 4 still remaining in existence. Weatherboarded with sloping slate roof. The wooden walls on the side facing the platform were removed c1985. this wall is supported on 4 wooden piers. Built in slatted wooden seating.

Sandwich Railway Station’s passenger shelter was visible on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition [1]. This was still visible on the Ordnance Survey 1938 edition [2]. It was also visible on MasterMap dating to 2009 [3]. The area was given a monument polygon based upon the 1938 mapping, during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
