Barn. C17. Weatherboarded timber frame on brick plinth. Thatched roof with hipped ends. Plan: An aisled barn of 11 bays, the 3 bays at the south west end are detached from the bays at the north east end by 2 bays which have collapsed. There is a threshing floor at the bay from the north-east end and a later outshut on the north east end. Exterior: Weatherboarded walls under low eaves. Thatched canopy over cart entrance to right of centre. Missing bays to left of centre. Interior: Widely-spaced studs to walls of aisles without a mid rail. Mid rail and tension braces to north east end wall. Jowled arcade posts with arch braces to ties and arcade plates. Clasped purlin roof without principles. The collars are dove-tail, lap- jointed to the common rafters. There is no ridge-piece and the collars do not correspond with the ties. There are curved passing shams through halved aisle ties supported on jowled aisle posts. The midstrey posts are also jowled and have curved braces to cantilevers supporting the canopy.
