Full Description
TQ 438452. A late mesolithic type axe was found by Mr P J Gray of Dormans land in river gravels at Devil's Den. It is of pinkish grey flint with lighter spots, stained ochre and in excellent condition. Mr D.N. Broadfoot of the West Kent Border Group suggests that the axe resembles W.F. Rankine's West Surrey type 11B also known as a Thames pick. The axe is now in private ownership. (1)
