Monument record TQ 82 NW 5 - Chapel remains (probable), Forsham Manor, Rolvenden
Summary
At Forsham Manor there were the ruins of an ancient stone structure, supposed by some to have been the remains of a fort of some strength, and by others to have been a manorial chapel. A former owner knew the site and supposed it to be of a chapel; he knew no tradition of a fort. Some years ago when digging a fence post hole about 100m north west of the site he found what he believed to be the rounded top of a plain stone coffin, but did not remove it. There is a large block of apparently worked stone about 50m north west of the site, but no other surface evidence of building.
