The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TR 24 SE ALKHAM ALKHAM VALLEY ROAD (north side) 4/4 Marquis of Granby GV II Public House. 1810 for John Collard, publican. Painted brick and flint return elevations and plain tiled roof. Two storeys on plinth with brick dentillated eaves cornice to half-hipped roof with stacks to end left and to end right. Regular fenestration of 3 cambered glazing bar sashes on first floor and 2 on ground floor, with outshot with white painted flint walls to left with wooden casement on each floor. Blocked round headed doorway to left with 5 steps and simple iron rails, and panelled door to right in double rebated surround with keystone and imposts, and flight of 5 steps with plain iron rails. Recessed 2 storey wing to right, of 2 builds, in part painted brick and flint, part rendered. Two glazing bar sashes each floor with central half-glazed door in semi-circular surround with 5 steps and rails.
