The building was surveyed by Canterbury Archaeological Trust in 2005. It was identified as the remains of a four bay building perhaps dating to c. 1500. It was once jettied towards the street. It could have originally been for domestic use but was more likely a workshop or store. The building was later modified by the removal of floors and partitions to use the structure as a garage. (2)
