The following text is from the original listed building designation:

2. This was probably originally a Hall House. The part adjoining No 18 has its original 1st floor taken out thereby destroying much of the character of this end of the building. The front is in imitation floorboard half-timbering. Modern shop front. The rest is plastered, with 3 sash windows, glazing bars missing. Fascia cuts across the 1st floor windows. 2 gables and tiled roof.
Nos 4 to 24 (even) and the Milk Alley Flat with Nos 2 and 4 Potter Street form a group.
