Monument record TQ 83 SE 5 - Romano-British cremation burial deposits, Puddingcake Lane, Rolvenden
Summary
Two second century Romano-British cremation burial deposits in oak boxes were found during excavations for foundations of a bungalow at the corner of Puddingcake Lane, Rolvenden Hill. They were excavated by the Maidstone Museum Archaeological Association in November, 1955: the associated pottery is now in Maidstone Museum. A former owner of the bungalow stated that the cremations were found two yards south of the south west corner of the building at TQ 8605 3231, when an inspection chamber was being constructed.
