Listing NGR: TQ8934230146 (1) Additional info. (2) Priest's House, a splendid early 16th century half- timbered house. (3) Priest's House, Smallhythe, was built soon after 1514. There is good reason to suppose it is erronously named. The name could have been applied to a house, known as the Chapel House, north of the chapel (TQ 83 SE 4) which was destroyed by fire in 1910. (4) Building survey carried out by Archaeology South East in 2005. Three main phases of construction: Built c.1514, the building initially consisted of a three-bay house with a jettied front, with a brick chimney. Minor alterations were made in the C17. c.1800the house was divided into two cottages, with the northern cottage consisting of the northern bay and the southern cottage consisting of the southern two bays. The southern cottage remained largely unaltered, but in the northern cottage a chimney and a lean-to housing a staircase and kitchen were added. (5)
