The following text is from the original listed building designation:

Cemetery Gate and Lodges TQ 67 SW 8/48 23.1.52.

2. Circa 1838. Architect Amon Henry Wilds. Stuccoed. A high round-headed carriage archway flanked by twin free-standing Doric columns on plinths with a panel between and pedinient over the arch. On each side is a lodge of 2 storeys and 1 window with twin engaged similar columns on their outer sides. The windows taper outwards towards the base and have moulded architrave surrounds. The South lodge has an additional window bay on the ground floor beyond the colunms with a roof sloping up to the main building. Low curved stuccoed wall adjoins on either side having 5 square pillars and spear railings.
The Cemetry Gate, Lodges and Mortuary Chapel have group value.
