The following text is from the original listed building designation:
TQ 67 SE SHORNE FORGE LANE 2/136 27.8.52 Pipes Place
II
C18 with Cl9 front addition. Red brick with some grey heders. Tiled roof. Painted timber eaves cornice. Main building rectangular with roof hipped at both ends. Front addition has lead flat roof. Main front elevation of 3 storeys. Projecting ground floor with 6 sash windows. First and second floor each have four sash windows with glazing bars intact. Ornamental terra cotta panels centrally to first and second floors. String course at first floor level. Recessed side addition of 2 storeys with 3 sash windows to ground and first floors.
Pipes Place belonged to Mr Maplesden in 1790. (Arch Cant Vol 23 p 84).
Chas Sloane (architect 1690-1764) at work planning and recording Jarvis Maplesden's estate at Shorne. (Arch Cant Vol 80 p 211).
