1/155 Thatched Barn to north east of Flint Cottage

Threshing barn. Early C19. Softwood timber framed barn, clad in weatherboarding (some tarred) on brick plinth. Half-hipped thatched roof. Double ledged and braced cart doors in centre. 5 bays. Centre bays have collar beam, angled queen struts and tie beam. End bays have unusual unhewn timbers forming curved passing braces up to collar beam. Roof has ridge piece through purlins and diagonal tension braces, particularly to centre bay. Wall frame has mid rail and diagonal tension braces. West end has 3 tiers of framing with diagonal tension braces. East end similar but probably originally had upper opening. Round-headed owl- hole to right of this. Sole plate has full lap dovetail joints between plate and tie.
