2. Circa l850. Corner building. 3 storeys stock brick, ground floor stuccoed. 4 sashes to Milton Road elevation, 1 sash in the rounded angle between the 2 street elevations, 9 sashes to the Grove and a further 6 sashes in a 2 storey extension in matching style on this elevation. Parapet and dentilled cornice. Glazing bars intact. The lst floor windows have moulded architraves. The ground floor has round-headed windows set in arcading. Doorcase with Tuscan columns set in the angle.
Nos 144 to 146 consec) form a group.

Description from record TQ 67 SE 1213:
Second World War public air raid shelter for 100 people in the basement of the former National Provincial Bank, 146 Milton Road, Gravesend. It was established in 1939. Adaptation of the basement would have involved the insertion of timber strutting for improving its resilience to bomb blast. It would have been decommissioned at the end of the Second World War in Europe in 1945 and strutting would have been removed by 1946. The building above is now used as a restaurant.
