Summary

Grade II listed building. A timber-framed house of 18th century or earlier date with an attached forge. The house is two storeys and is weatherboarded with a pantile roof. There are two altered windows on the first floor with shutters whilst the ground floor has sliding sashes. The forge extension is of one storey and is weatherboarded with a pantiled roof. A plaque set up by the Dickens Fellowship records that this is the origin of Joe Gargery's Forge in "Great Expectations".
