TQ 74 SW MARDEN GOUDHURST ROAD (west side)
3/49 Former stables about 20 metres south-west of Great Cheveney House
GV II
Stables. 1763, with later alterations. Ground floor red and grey brick in Flemish bond, first floor tile-hung. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys on moulded brick plinth. Hipped roof. One two-light casement with thin glazing bars to right of centre. Boarded first-floor loading door to left of centre, and another towards front of right gable end, the latter up an external flight of stairs. Stable door with segmental head to each end of ground floor. Two stable doors and one ribbed door towards centre. Left door possibly C18. Ventilation slits and ribbed hatch to ground floor of right gable end. Brick dated "A * C * (?) * C * 1763". Interior not inspected.
