EAST SUTTON EAST SUTTON ROAD TQ 84 NW (east side) 5/73 Luckhurst [formerly listed as the house 26.4.68 north of Brissenden] II*
Farmhouse. Late C15 or early C16. Timber framed with plaster infilling. Plain tile roof. Wealden, with 2 unequal-length hall bays and storeyed bay to right end. Slight evidence for storeyed bay to left, since demolished. 2 storeys on brick plinth. Close studded. Right end bay jettied, jetty returning (but underbuilt) on moulded dragon post. Moulded fillet half way up first floor of right bay. No braces to flying wallplate. Solid bracket under central tie-beam. Hipped roof with gablets. Multiple brick ridge stack in narrow right end bay of hall. Irregular fenestration of 3 windows to each floor. C15 or early C16 two-storey canted bay to right end of left bay of hall, close-studded, on a later brick base, with moulded cill below each window; 4-light C19 casement window below eaves and 3-light ground-floor casement. 3-light ovolo-moulded mullion window to first floor of right hall bay and similar 4-light ground-floor window. 4-light ovolo-moulded mullion window to first floor of right end bay and 7-light casement to ground floor. Broad ribbed door to left end of right end bay in architrave with moulded 4-centred arched head with carved spandrels. Interior: exposed framing. Moulded and brattished end of hall beams and moulded beam to right side of cross-passage. Stairs in front of stack. Moulded crown- post. Listing NGR: TQ8327947936 (5)
