The following text is from the original listed building designation:
SUTTON VALENCE TUMBLERS HILL TQ 8049-8149 (north side) 7/163 Gwyn Cottage, Newlyn and Cottage adjoining to right GV II
House, now house row. Early C16 or earlier. Timber framed. Projecting left end, and ground floor of rest clad with buff brick in Flemish bond, with base of wall-post exposed on ground floor towards right end. First floor of rest clad to left with applied studs and rendered infilling and to right with weatherboarding. 2 storeys and attics on stepped stone plinth. Roof hipped to left and continuous with next house to right. Narrow left end bay projects forwards on both floors with roof continued down over it. Buff brick ridge stack to left end of "recessed" section. Hipped 3-light through dormer at right end. Irregular fenestration of 2 windows excluding dormer; one 6-pane sash to left bay and one 2-light casement to right of stack. Blocked door to right end of left bay; 2 adjacent half-glazed doors, one beneath and one to right of stack, up 2 steps; boarded door up 5 steps towards right end. Interior not inspected.
