Farmhouse. Late 15th or early 16th century. Timber framed. Rendered, with only principal posts exposed. Plain tile roof. Wealden, with open hall of 2 unequal bays, a broad 2-storey bay to right end and evidence for demolished 2-storey bay to left. 2 storeys, on galletted stone plinth. Right end bay jettied on plain brackets. 2 tension braces of uneven length to open hall. Arch brace to right end of flying wall-plate and bracket beneath left end. Solid bracket under central tie. Roof half-hipped to left, and hipped with large gablet to right. Right hip returns. Multiple brick ridge stack central to existing house, in narrow right bay of hall. Projecting brick stack to right gable end. Irregular fenestration of 3 windows; one 3-light casement to left bay of hall, small fixed light to right hall bay and one 3-light casement to right end bay. Boarded door with rectangular light up 2 steps to left end of right end bay. Long right return wing: tile-hung first floor. 2 storeys. Hipped roof with lower ridge. Projecting stack towards rear on right side. Two 2-light casements. End lean-to. Interior not inspected. Called after William Rose who owned house in late 15th century. Owned by Joseph Hatch, bell-founder, early 17th century.
