LENHAM LENHAM HEATH ROAD TQ 85 SE (south side) Sandway
4/201 Barn circa 7 yards south of Home Farmhouse GV II
Barn. Late C15 or early C16. Timber framed, weatherboarded on stone plinth with hipped plain tile roof and central C19 louvre. Entrance formerly central, now in left gable end. Interior: 3 bays with aisle to rear. Central bay narrow. Posts on post plates. Curved braces from principal posts to arcade plate (to rear) and wall-plate (to front), and to tie-beams. Plain crown post with 2 curved upward braces and mortices for 2 downward. Pitch of roof altered in C19. Clasped side purlins and re-using original rafters. Left end possibly floored at some stage. Lean- to to right end.
