Monument record TQ 84 SW 6 - Iron Age burial and Roman cremation urns

Summary

Six urns containing bones were found in a railway cutting one mile north of Biddenden in 1902-4. The contents were most probably Roman in date although an early Iron Age (Belgic) burial is also known from the site. The pottery sherds from the site are now held at Madistone Museum. The railway line is now dismantled and the area was laid down as an orchard in recent years however no new information was revealed.
