LENHAM CHURCH SQUARE TQ 8952 (east side)
10/142 Nos. 1,2 and 3 (Church Cottage, White Cottage and Barnside Cottage) GV II 2 houses, now house row. Nos. 1 and 2: C15. Timber-framed, weather boarded, with plain-tile roof. Ground floor of left end of No. 1 pebble dashed. House with cross-wing to left. 2 storeys on flint plinth. Left bay of No. 1 has underbuilt jetty with main roof extending over it to front. Hipped roof. To rear, left bay roofed as cross-wing, and main range in 2 slightly different pitches. One brick ridge stack at either end and one in rear slope of roof towards centre. Irregular fenestration of four C19 glazing bar sashes, 3 with shutters. Small canted ground-floor bay window at left end of No. 1 Ribbed door to No. 1 at right end of jettied section. Panelled door with 2 top lights, beneath stack, to left of centre of main range. Rear lean-to of red brick with occasional grey headers. No. 3: House,. Late C18 or early C19. Chequered red and grey brick with plain tiled roof. 2 storeys. Roof hipped to right and adjoining No. 2 to left. No stack. Irregular fenestration of 2 glazing-bar sashes, ground-floor windows with segmental heads. Central fielded-panelled door with glazed side lights under broad segmental head. Short rear wing to right. Interior not inspected.
