Summary
Grade II listed building. Main construction periods 1833 to 1833. A psychiatric hospital: the earliest building of the 19th century hospital then termed the 'county lunatic asylum' was established at Barming Heath, Maidstone in 1833. it had been designed in 1829 by John Whichcord. Additions and extensions were added in 1836, 1842, 1844 and 1847. It comprises 3 storeys constructed from ashlar masonry.
