Description from record TQ 75 SE 93 :
Doc. ref to mill in 1675, certainly used for paper production from 1685. Operated by Thomas Pine from c1712 whose family retained a connection with it through the C18. A new rag room was added in 1801, a map this year shows a series of 4 settling ponds serving the mill. A map of 1888 shows the pond with a by-pass leat around the first 2 to the 3rd, which served on the mill pond via a small square 4th pond. A turbine replaced the waterwheel c.1900. Mill was closed shortly after WW1, then demolished. The mill house remained with waterwheel delivery launder, turbine, wheel shaft bearing boxes and 1 beater retained as a garden feature. (seen in 1972) 1 single storey outbuilding also remained standing. Site of drying shed now lawn. (1)
