Description from record TQ 75 NE 224:
Listed building : no additional information available - Watermill built between 1571 and 1635. Timber framed, weatherboarded on stone plinth. Left gable end (to stream) with red brick wall in English bond below framing. Plain tile roof.

A disused water mill of at least 19th century on the Old Maidstone Rd at Sandling. Built on a ragstone base (with a 19th century brick phase where the wheel was) the single storey structure is of timber frame and weather board construction. Stephen Kelvey operated a seed crushing in Boxley in 1847 which was taken over by S.Sandling Kelvey by 1859.(1) As there is no water course capable of driving water powered machinery in the village and no windmill is known, Sandling Mill is perhaps the most likely candidate. The place name may well have been confused with Kelvey's name in the 1859 directory.(2)
