Full Description

Late 19th century painted iron water pump.

It has a tapering reeded shaft with ring-moulded base on square plinth, with a ring of water-leaf-inspired decoration towards the centre. The conical cap is ribbed but the handle and spout are plain.

It was moved from the High Street in the later 20th century to Day's Green but later returned to the High Street.

REASONS FOR DESIGNATION
The late 19th century Pump adjacent to No 30 High Street in Headcorn is designated at Grade ll for the following principal reason:

* Architectural lnterest: A good example of a late-C19 water pump that reflects historical use of utilities in this form.
