OTHAM STREET TQ 75 SE OTHAM (West Side) 3/232 Former Oasthouse about 20 metres north of Belks GV II Maltings, formerly oast house, now store. Early C18 with C19 alterations. Front C19 red and grey brick in Flemish bond on roughly-coursed ragstone base. Rear stone to ground floor, weatherboarded above. Plain tile roof. Kiln red and grey brick in English bond with corrugated iron roof. L-plan, with main range of 8 short timber-framed bays to first floor, and integral wing, formerly of similar length, now truncated, running forwards from right end. Converted to oast house in late C19, with unusually large circular kiln, now truncated above eaves, towards centre of front wall. 2 storeys. Boarded hatch to front of first floor, and 2 (formerly 3) to rear. Hipped roof, left hip returning to front along wing. Gable to truncation. Cogged brick eaves cornice to kiln. Garage doors to left gable end of main range, with first-floor door above. Walls of wing continue towards road as garden walls, with vestiges of brick kilns. Interior: sliding shutters to rear hatches. Cross beams and staggered axial beams to ground floor. Roof of slightly staggered butt purlins, with high collars, and raked queen struts to rafters.
