Full Description

A 2nd century Roman flagon was ploughed up on Lower Runham Farm, Lenham in 1863 and is now in Maidstone Museum (Acc No 74 1967). The urn has been handed down in the Hope family, former owners of Runham Farm, and the find-site (much confused in a letter accompanying the gift to the Museum) has been interpreted at TQ 87325137. Miss Sarah Hope, who sent the letter is extremely old and not available for interview. (1)
