The following text is from the original listed building designation:
BRENCHLEY GARDENS 1. 5278 The Old Water Conduit TQ 7556 SE 4/177 30.7.51. II
2. A stone pier about 3 ft high with an iron conduit in it, the whole now placed in a modern red brick arch. The conduit originally stood in Stone Street and was re-ereoted by the Corporation is Brenchley Gardens.
