Full Description
An uninscribed Belgic gold stater was found at Redpit, Langley. The coin was purchased for the Kent Numismatic Society. (1) Area: TQ 8134 5130. Mrs. Weeks, of Redpit cottage, stated that the gold coin was found by her late husband Mr. F.A. Weeks, a great many years ago, in the field adjacent to, and SE of, the cottage garden. She could not give an accurate findspot. Her daughter handed in the coin to the Maidstone Museum a few years ago. (2) Found in 1927, the coin was bought privately by Mr. J.F.H. Checkley, Treasurer of the Kent Numismatic Society in whose possession it remains. (3)
