LEEDS UPPER STREET TQ 85 SW (west side)
3/129 The Old Post Office (formerly listed as The 26.4.68. House attached to Leeds Post Office) GV II
House, formerly Post Office, now house. Early C19. Red brick in Flemish bond with occasional grey headers. Left side elevation to road, roughly coursed galletted stone to ground floor, chequered red and grey brick above. Plain tile roof. At right-angles to road. 2 storeys on brick plinth with dentilled eaves-cornice to road. Hipped roof, hips returning along side elevations. Integral lean-tos to left and right ends. Red brick stack in left end of left lean-to with tumbled brickwork to shoulders and stone base an integral part of lean-to wall. Irregular fenestration of 2 glazing-bar sashes in open boxes and one small C20 single light. Ground floor windows have segmental heads. Central panelled door with 2 square top lights under flat bracketted hood. Stone quatrefoil, probably from Priory, to base of left stack. Slightly later 2-storey red brick additions to rear. Interior not inspected.
