Summary

Grade II listed building. Main construction periods 1550 to 1699. Timber framed 2-bay 2-storey cross wing jettied to the front and external side. The house was largely rebuilt in the 16th century. The cross wing may have been built against an earlier hall range which was replaced circa 1600.

The following text is from the original listed building designation:
CHART SUTTON ASHURST COURT TQ 74 NE ROAD (east side) 4/20 Ashurst Lodge 21.6.78 Farmhouse GV II
Farmhouse. C17 or earlier. Timber framed. Ground floor red brick in Flemish bond, first floor tile-hung. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys. Roof hipped, with slightly lower ridge towards left end. Multiple brick stack to right of centre. 2 large gables hung with plain and fishscale tiles with moulded bargeboards; one at right end and one to left of stack. Irregular fenestration of 3 casements; one 3-light under each gable, and one 2-light under stack. No window to left end bay on either floor. Ribbed door beneath stack. Interior not inspected.
