ULCOMBE PYE CORNER TQ 84 NE The Provender 6/190 Public House II
Public house. Circa 1600 with additions and alterations of ` C18 and C19 and 1970s. Timber framed. Ground floor clad with chequered red and grey brick, first floor weatherboarded. Plain tile roof. T-plan: 3 timber-framed bays of circa 1600 at right-angles to road, with two C18 bays added to front to left [re-floored in 1970s] and one C19 bay added to right. 2 storeys, on stone plinth. Roof hipped to left and hipped down to lower ridge towards right end. Right end hipped. Multiple brick ridge stack with fillet to central bay of c.1600 section. Irregular fenestration of five 4-pane glazing- bar sashes. Blocked doorway towards right end of C18 section. Ribbed door towards right end of circa 1600 section. Rear lean-to. Interior: circa 1600 section: exposed timbers, gunstock - jowled posts, edge-halved scarf-joint, wood mullion windows with diamond subsidiary mullions, clasped purlin roof with diminishing principal rafters and curved windbraces. Roof to C18 section with staggered butt purlins and re-used sooted rafters.
