SUTTON VALENCE BROAD STREET TQ 8049-8149 (south side) 7/118 The Cheynes & Cheyne House 26.4.68 GV II
House row, formerly with shop. C18 and C19. Left section (The Cheynes) timber framed weatherboarded, with plain tile roof. Right section (Cheyne House) red brick in Flemish bond to ground floor, weatherboarded above, with slate roof. Left section 2 storeys, right 3. Hipped roof to right. Gable end stack to left, ridge stack shared by both blocks, and projecting stack to right end. Irregular fenestration of 7 casements; three 3-light to left section, alternating with two 2-light, and two 2-light casements with top lights to each upper floor of right section. Ground floor of left section has two 2-light casements with shallow flat hoods towards left, one canted bay to right end and central projecting rectangular bay with moulded and dentilled cornice, formerly a shop front. Two doors to The Cheynes; one half-glazed to centre, within rectangular shop front, one between two bays with 4 fielded panels and 2 top lights under flat hood with moulded and dentilled cornice. Panelled door to centre of Cheyne House. Interiors not inspected.
