The following text is from the original listed building designation:
SUTTON VALENCE HIGH STREET TQ 8049-8149 (north side) 7/140 Ye Old Poste House 26.4.68 (formerly listed as Post Office and the house attached) GV II
House, now tea-rooms and house. Late C16 or early C17 with late C18/early C19 facade. Timber framed, ground floor clad with painted brick, first floor tile-hung. Plain tiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. Right gable end has exposed framing with plaster infilling. Broad central stack parallel to ridge, in front slope of roof. 2 hipped dormers. Irregular fenestration of three 3-light casements. Central recessed panelled door up 2 steps beneath stack with flat moulded hood. Interior partly inspected. 3 timber framed bays including stack bay. Ovolo- moulded ground-floor beams. Gable end shows clasped purlin roof with queen-struts to high collar.
