STAPLEHURST HIGH STREET TQ 7843 (West side)
5/137 No. 7 and former shop and house 10.6.61 adjoining to south (formerly listed as premises occupied by Mather and premises occupied by E.G. Wood and 10.6,1971 house attached)

House row with shop. C17 or early C18, with mid-to-late C19 alterations. Ground floor patched red and grey brick. Fishscale tiles to first floor, with occasional bands of plain tiles. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys and attic. Moulded wooden eaves cornice. Half-hipped roof. Rear stack towards centre, and another smaller to right end. 2 small hipped dormers with 2-light casements. Irregular fenestration of four 4-pane sashes. Two 16-pane sashes to right end of ground floor. C19 shop front to left end of ground floor, slightly bowed, with reeded cornice, and with blocked doorway with reeded architrave and paterae incorporated in left end. Half-glazed door to left of stack and blocked doorway under stack. Panelled door towards right end, up 2 steps and with flat bracketed hood. Interior not inspected.
