[Name at TQ 8588 6859] Roman Potteries [R] (Sites of) [NAT]. (1) Roman pottery kilns at Twinney Creek. (2) Site of Roman potteries a short distance south of Milfordhope Marsh. (3) The site of these potteries fall between high and low water mark in an area of deep mud and could not be investigated. (4) Area centred approx TQ 8588 6859 (grid ref applied wrongly to TQ 86 NE 5). Rectangular clay kiln bars found during surface observation by the Upchurch Archaeological Research Group in the early 1970s. Probable pottery kiln site in the vicinity.
