The following text is from the original listed building designation:
ROCHESTER HIGH STREET TQ 7468 NW 7/45 No 18 (The Rochester Bar) 24.10.50 GV II Former house now with public bar to ground floor. C.1800. Dark red brick (fine pointing) with renewed parapet; roofing material not visible. 3½ storeys. 2 window range. Hornless sash windows throughout (16 panes to 1st and 2ndf floors, 12 panes to upper half storey) under flat rubbed brick arches; contemporary rainwater goods between Nos 18 and 20. Ground-floor completely remodelled in late C20. Right-hand end stack rebuilt. rear with two 12 pane hornless sash windows to upper half storey only.
