TQ7668NW PROSPECT ROW, Brompton 686-1/5/45 (East side) 21/12/73 Nos.10 AND 11 and attached front railing (Formerly Listed as: PROSPECT ROW, Brompton Nos.2-20 (Consecutive))
GV II
Pair of attached houses. Early C18, altered mid-late C20. Red brick with brick party wall stacks, and a tiled roof. STYLE: Early Georgian. PLAN: double-depth. EXTERIOR: each of 3 storeys; 2-window range. A parapeted front with a low rendered plinth and thin brick cornice to No.11, early C19 paired central doorways have half-round architraves with corner roundels, rectangular overlights and C19 6-panel doors; segmental-arched brick heads to sashes in exposed flush frames, C19 2/2-pane sashes to No.10 and C18 6/6-pane sashes to No.11; over the doorway is a small matching blind window. The upper floor of No.11 rebuilt mid-late C20. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached length of iron railing between the doorways. HISTORY: Prospect Row was built between 1705 and 1756. Part of a good mixed terrace of early-mid Georgian houses. (The Buildings of England: Newman J: West Kent and the Weald: London: 1976-: 66).
