TQ7668NW PROSPECT ROW, Brompton 686-1/5/54 (South West side) 21/12/73 King George V Public House

Public house. Late C17, extended to E early C19, altered late C19. Rendered with brick ridge stacks, and a tiled roof with a mansard to the front. PLAN: L-shaped single-depth plan. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; early C19 2-window range, with late C17 4-window rear range. Corner house has coped parapet and left-hand gable, with late C19 pub front with splayed corner double doors, and a wide plate-glass mullion window, and 2 plate-glass first-floor windows and a C20 flat-headed dormer. Left-hand return has a C19 public house window with a blocked door, and a second window in the rear range; windowless above. A timber fascia and cornice to the front and sides. Rear range has a timber modillion eaves cornice, off-centre and left-hand doorways with a public house window in between, 4 irregularly spaced first-floor 6/6-pane sashes, with 2 hipped dormers with casements. INTERIOR: altered with a C20 public house interior; roof not inspected. HISTORY: reported to be the earliest house on Prospect Row, from c1685.
