Full Description
"The name of Swainesdown in this Parish [Iwade] is plainly of Danish origin, and there are still the vestigia of some ancient fortifications or works thrown up on it". (1) Swains Down (a), centred TQ 883681, is now an orchard with no trace of earthworks.. (2)
