The following text is from the original listed building designation:
ROCHESTER HOSPITAL LANE (OFF) TQ 7567 NW 13/168 Mortuary of St Bartholemew's Hospital GV II Garden building, now part of St Bartholemew's Hospital. Late C18 or early C19 painted stucco on brick, slate roofs. 2 storeys, with lower wing now built up to 2 storeys gothick or 'Castle Style'. Centre has one ground floor 4-centered arched door under drip mould head with stairs and balustrade. First floor has 3 inserted c.1900 plate glass sash windows. 2 rounded towers at angles with arrow slit openings to ground and first floors. Drip-mould string runs across towers mid facade at first floor level, similar string at parapet level with battlement. 2 storeys recessed wing at east has 3 gothick headed openings at ground floor, second floor with hipped slate roof. Wing at west has c.1960 first floor flat roofed addition. Small angle buttresses with ogees at head at rear. A garden building eye catcher to No 257 High Street to the north (qv).
