2. 1703. Original house of 2 storeys 5 windows altered in C19 to wide, single side windows. The original 1st floor centre window remains with cut, carved gauged brick arch. Hipped tiled roof with end£chimneys and C19 hipped tiled dormer. Red brick with diaper of blue headers except where old window places have been filled with plain red brick. 1st floor band at sides and back, mostly removed on front. Coursed rubble plinth, red brick quoins and coping. At sides wide sash windows under segmental arches. Fire insurance sign over 1st floor centre window. Below it stone plaque inscribed: "This farm house was built by Thomas Lord Dacre, Earl of Sussex, in the year 1703". Modern pent porch to early C19 6-panel door in old moulded wood frame. Inside late Cl7 staircase with urn-turned balusters, square newels, solid string and wide handrail, said to have been brought from Chevening Park.
